6 Nov: Fireworks Paddle

Friday 6 Nov 2026

WHERE: Brentford Boating Arch, Kew Bridge: https://www.chelseakayakclub.co.uk/about-the-club/club-locations/
What3Words: Jelly.Probe.Cards

WHEN: Friday 6 Nov, meeting time 17:45, on the water (OTW) 18:30, Aiming to be off the water & away by 23:00

This is a downstream evening trip but longer than our normal Thursday evening trips as we will be hoping to see some fireworks from our boats! We will paddle down river with the flow, as far as just beyond Putney Bridge to Wandsworth Riverside Pier. It will be Low Tide at 19.40 hrs, so we should be able to rest our boats on the foreshore there. It may not be possible to land or get ourselves onto the pontoons there. Please bring a Packed meal and flask of hot drink . We will be stopping here for a while to eat and watch the fireworks supplied by a private club on the North Side of the River called The Hurling Club. Once the Firework display is finished we will paddle back up river with the Flood tide.

This is longer than most Thursday evening trips – about 9 km or 6.3m.

Please arrive at The Arches closest to the river, on the North East side of Kew Bridge. Please arrive on time, so we can have boats and kit ready and can be on the water at the scheduled start time. If you are running late, or for other changes, please message (not email) the session leaders at least an hour before. This is important so the entire group is not waiting for you!

GRADING: B (or A if you are recently passed your Discover but do have a good level of fitness and paddle stroke with good efficiency/ speed)

TIDES: Kew Bridge LW: 12.40 hrs HW 20.10 hrs – see  Admiralty Easy tide for further details if required.

SUNSET Lights needed

LEADER: Liza

OTHER INFO: Please keep eye on forecast. However a lot of rain is forecast during the preceding week, we will be keeping an eye on the amount of water in the river and the speed of the river flow.

SIGN-UP:

Please sign-up by 16:00 on Thursday (day before), if you would like a place and will require use of boats and equipment.
