Sea Kayaking London

Chelsea Kayak Club (known as CKC) is West London’s friendly sea kayaking club. You can find us paddling sea kayaks on the River Thames, from Kew Bridge, West London. We paddle at night from 7pm every Thursday throughout the year. We normally kayak to Richmond, London or Chiswick and Hammersmith depending on the tide (usually followed by a drink at a local pub). We also kayak on the sea at weekends and organise longer expeditions to locations such as Wales, Scotland, Devon and Dorset, as well as abroad. Socials and training courses are regularly organised and we are closely aligned with the British Canoeing (BC) paddler awards in our training. Details go out by email to all members and can be seen in our Events Calendar. Each event shows a ‘grade’ so you can select one suitable for your experience, fitness and desire for adventure!

Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is able to swim 50m in light clothing. The tides on the Thames mean a little experience is needed before members can join Thames sessions; we organise beginner sessions throughout the year to get you going. If you’re new to kayaking please refer to the FAQs webpage for information on how to get started and some background on the club. The Resources section of the website provides links to further information and resources of relevance to the Club and its activities.

The Club is governed by a Constitution to ensure fair practice and treatment for all members and is affiliated to British Canoeing and is a Specialist Provider as part of the British Canoeing Go Paddling initiative. See About the Club for more background on the Club, as well as links to key club documents.

We are based at Brentford Boating Arch in Kew Bridge, West London. This Location map shows exactly where.

If you have any questions about the Club drop us an email to info@chelseakayakclub.co.uk and we will try and get back to you as soon as we can.
