In the interests of safety for all, membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is able to swim 50m in light clothing. Full details of the Club Operating & Safety Procedures can be found here.
There are three membership levels available, the benefits of which are summarised below. Most people join as Full Members with Discover Award Training.
CKC Membership Levels
Full Membership with Discover Award Training £165 for the first year, then Full Membership rate for subsequent years
Full Membership £115 per year
Basic Membership £58 per year
If you are new to kayaking, you should chose the Full Membership with Discover Award Training option.
Basic membership is aimed at individuals who either live outside London and cannot regularly make the weekly Thames session and / or have their own boats and equipment.

Full Membership with Discover Award Training – What’s Included?
Full day training to the level required for the Paddle UK Discover Award – Discover (Beginner’s Course)
Use of Club facilities for weekly evening and weekend Thames Sessions
Use of Club kit and equipment on Club organised trips and sessions
Club email distribution list
Third party / civil liability insurance during Club organised activities
Regular and often discounted safety, coaching and leadership training opportunities
Discounts at several canoe / kayak shops (e.g. Whitewater Canoe Centre)

For those who are Basic Members, additional fees are payable if attending Thames sessions and if Club boats and equipment are used on Club trips and sessions.

The Club’s membership year runs from the 1st March to the end of February.
Fees are as follows:
- Full Membership with Discover Award Training costs £165;
- Full Membership costs £115 (£65 if joining after 1st September);
- Basic Membership costs £58;
Payments should be made by an on-line bank transfer. You will receive an email from the Membership team with details of the Club bank details.
